Hey flyGIRL!✈️ Let’s Talk Free Travel with Points + Miles

Have you ever scrolled through your feed, seen someone sipping champagne in first class, and thought, “How in the world are they affording that?” Well, sis… chances are, they’re not paying full price — they’re playing the points and miles game. And you can too!

Here’s the tea: if you’re spending money (and who isn’t?), you might as well earn travel rewards while you’re at it.

What Are Points and Miles?

Think of points and miles as travel currency. Credit card companies partner with airlines, hotels, and other travel brands. When you use certain cards for your everyday purchases (yes, that includes gas, groceries, and girls’ night out!), you earn rewards — and those rewards can be redeemed for flights, hotel stays, upgrades, and more.

Choose the Right Card

Start with a travel rewards credit card that fits your lifestyle. If you’re loyal to a specific airline (like Delta, American, or Southwest), go for their co-branded card. If you want flexibility, look for cards that let you transfer points to multiple travel partners — think Chase Sapphire Preferred or Amex Gold (the preferred cards are flexible, transferable points).

Spend Smart, Not More

You don’t need to spend extra money to earn points-Just shift your everyday spending to the card. Pay your bills, buy groceries, or treat yourself — but always pay off your balance in full each month to avoid interest (we’re building wealth, not debt!).

Cash in on Sign-Up Bonuses

Most travel cards offer juicy welcome bonuses — sometimes 50,000 points or more — if you meet a minimum spend in the first few months. That alone could get you a round-trip flight or luxury hotel night!

Know the Redemption Game

Not all points are created equal. Transferring points to airline and hotel partners often gets you the most value. For example, those same 50,000 points could be worth $500 as cash back — or over $1,000 when used for international business class flights. Strategy is everything, flyGIRL.

Keep It Organized

Use tools like AwardWallet or spreadsheets to track your balances and expiration dates. And don’t forget to sign up for airline and hotel loyalty programs (they’re free!).

Let’s Fly, Smarter

This isn’t about being rich — it’s about being resourceful. With a little know-how, your everyday spending can fuel your next adventure. Remember: if flyGIRL can do it, so can you. 😉
